Okay, somehow I made an MP3 in garageband, having never used it before in my life two hours ago.

Now how do i cut it in half? It runs 14 minutes and I need two seven minute sections?

I imported it into Itunes as an MP3, what do I do now?

In Garageband you need to select the point you want to split and move the play head there. Make sure the track is selected and go to Edit --> Split. Then you'll need to take the split track and move it to another line and export each one as a separate file.

Thank you for the above that I read this morning...

then was on the phone with Apple about Garageband when your advice was more sound... figured it out without Apple based on your advice and

voila... it worked! I can't believe i used Garageband for the first time!

And yeah I heard about Audacity, sounds good too thanks
