What it looks like to me is a movie desktop. There's a few programs out there that will allow you to set your desktop to a movie or something of the sort. It's best to search MacUpdate.com for such programs.

I thought a movie desktop just let have a movie as your background. It seems like these backgrounds have a little app that displays the coverart, song info, date, weather, and time over the background. Kind of like a two-layer background, first the art, then the iTunes app thing.

OP, where did you see these backgrounds? Maybe you can try and contact the poster?

It's a combination of CoverSutra and GeekTool. The former you pay for (or use Bowtie) and the latter is free.

I thought Geektool basically just let you put text on the screen? So, in this instance, in the top background, the text for the month, day, time would be through geektool? The weather graphics wouldn't be through it would it?

Download Geektool and go into the Shell mode. Then add in four different commands as follows below for Time, Day of Month, Month, Day:

date “+%l:%M %p”

date +%d

date +%B

date +%A

You can then reformat the text and move it to any part of your screen. I believe the weather is through geektool also; haven't figured out how to do that yet but I'm still searching on the web and shooting in the dark on my own! I'll post back if I find out how to get the weather with Geektool too.

Oh, and yeah CoverSutra or bowtie for the itunes graphics. You'll have to get your own pic of a girl or guy though ;)

Edit: I'm pretty sure now that the weather is via a Yahoo Widget.
