I have the newest OS on my MacBook and it runs extremely slow now. It is unbearable. Mind you it was my fault for upgrading without taking tech hardware into account. How do I get this machine back on its original OS. That being 10.

Basically you need an OS installer on a bootable media (DVD/USB/etc.), and that OS version must support your hardware. What you basically then do is a format and install. Apple still sells 10.6, and I would not go farther back than that.
Please keep in mind, that this process will wipe all data and personal settings from your computer so you'll need to make assiduous backups before you start.
