I have a nonjailbroken iPhone 4 with iOS5 on it but I want to downgrade to one of the iOS 4s but I keep getting error 3194 has anyone else been able to downgrade if so how?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Did you save your shsh with tiny umbrella b4 upgrading? If so you can downgrade to a previous version, if not you are SOL.

I didn't. Can I get a another SHSH somewhere else?

If you never saved its blobs before either on cydias server or locally then you cannot downgrade firmware.

I can't get an SHSH somewhere else?

No, shsh blobs are unique to each iphone device.
If that was the case we would all use 1 iphones shsh blobs to downgrade/restore every iphone out there.
Unfortunately it doesnt work that way.
You cannot downgrade your iphone 4 at all.

Sorry about the bad news.
Its always good to start saving your shsh blobs even if you dont JB your phone.
Not sure if it would do any good now that Apple implemented a more strict shsh blobs system that will not work the same way it was done before.

weird that you're getting a 3194 error. the 3194 error usually occurs when you're trying to update using a custom firmware.

have you tried using a different computer? if not, do so. if you don't have another computer, take it to apple. i've seen many people bringing their iphone to apple for the update due to errors.

he can't do it without SHSH blobs plan and simple.
3194 is a common error people get when installing incompatible firmware or software that is no longer signed. usually its the 1st clue that they probably haven't saved blobs or not using tiny umbrella TSS Server.

I downgraded my old 3G when Apple screwed up OS4. I downloaded the OS3 software leaving it on the desktop and connected the phone to iTunes. You can restore as new and simply point to the OS4 when prompted.

That won't work.

I think that was possible with the 3G and 1st Gen, however, starting with the 3GS, Apple made it a lot more difficult to downgrade.

With the 3GS and 4 (and I assume that also with the 4S) you can downgrade as long as Apple is still signing the previous firmware (for example if you had iOS 5 Beta or GM installed before iOS 5 was actually released and Apple was officially supporting 4.3.5, you could downgrade to that one easily). But once Apple stops signing a given version, you need to have saved its blobs before.

That's the iphone 3G.
We're talking about an iphone 4, big diffference.
You can always downgrade an iphone 3G to anything 3.1.3 or below cause back then there was no shsh blobs.
