I had the same problem. I looked everywhere for a solution - unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way. Every program I tried didn't detect the iPhone. Maybe there is a way - if there is, I'd like to know too. :)

Does Senuti work for the iPhone? I was able to transfer my photos off of my 5G iPod when my HD died a couple of years ago. I learned my lesson..... I back up everything now.

I've never tried it (or needed to) with my iPhone though.

No, it doesn't. I also used it for my iPod video.

Did you try copying them to your computer by accessing your iPhone over ssh?

I believe that they have to be store somewhere in
/ private / var / mobile / Media / DCIM

Please correct me if I am wrong

when i plug in my iphone it detects it as a device, on xp pro.

maybe plug it into ur pc. download the pictures to there, and then transfer them to your mac?

That is what i mean, it seems a little troublesome, but it is really one way of doing it.
