First up have you installed a program to allow ftp or ssh on your ipod touch? AFPd and Pure-FTPd are two FTP servers available from installer. OpenSSH is for using scp also.

Secondly, easiest way of finding out is going into Settings, then to Wi-Fi.

In there you will see a list of all the wifi networks you can connect to, a blue tick will be placed next to the one you're already on. If you click the Right Circle Arrow on that one you will be brought to a new screen which has "IP Address". That number is your Host Address (example: 192.168.0.2)

yea ok thx i just downled services. i enabled wifi but there is no ssh eable thing in it should i just re-run the jailbreak or where can i just download the ssh

you will need to install it via Installer.

It's under the "networks" category

let's not get confused here...

AFPd is not an FTP server, its an AFP server. (apple filing protocol, versus file transfer protocol. different port, speeds, etc...)

You may use the FTP server and connect with FTP.

OpenSSH allows you to connect via SSH (terminal) or SFTP (port 22). (Also not FTP)

As for SCP, I have no clue why you would want to use it....

i know how to connect to my ipodtouch i have cute 8.1 pro.
I setup a thing all ready i put in the ip of the ipod.
i put in The user name: that is (root)
i put in the password that is alpine.
login method normal.
its all set up right except for the ssh becuse
i didn't install it when i jailbreaked it because i didn't know what it was.
so then i went to install/all packages/services
and that is suppose to install ssh.
then you go to what you installed and enable wifi, edge, and ssh.

but every time i install it and the first time i go into the program i see ssh at the bottom and it is enabled then one sec later it disappears and i gess turns it off.

and i don't know why it keeps disappearing.
i have tryed installing it, then unstalling it and reinstalling it and turning off the ipod.
i haven't biin able to get it to work

um yeah....services doesnt install SSH, just a GUI for turning it on and off..

install OpenSSH
