How do I fix the internet pause after wake up?

I just had Yosemite demoed and I'm back to Maverick and having to set several things up again I use to have an issue with a pause while waiting for the internet to connect after the laptop came out of sleep mode - somehow I fixed it.

So after going back to Maverick, I have that same dang pause after coming out of sleep mode again and can't remember what I did to fix it. Can someone help? Thanks.

Found it - duh . . . energy saver.
