I have an iMac G5 20" ALS that I've recently upgraded the HDD in. I bought a 750GB NTFS (PC) HDD. I cannot get my iMac to boot from my install DVD.

What gives? What should I try next?

I've tried:
Another friend's DVD
My own DVD in another machine
Reseating my RAM
Reseating my HDD
An external DVD drive
Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5
Holding down Option - Brings up nothing to choose from
Holding down C - Drive spins and fires up, but does nothing with the DVD
Holding down OPT + Apple + P + R
Holding down OPT + Apple + O + F

Please help me. I need this to run my business. :[

Thanks!
Britney

Ah, I see.

Do you have access to another Mac with Firewire? Target Disk Mode could help then.
But if you can't even boot from your DVD, it might be hard to install any OS onto it? What about the old iMac HDD in an enclosure for 3.5" HDDs connected via Firewire?

Links to guides on how to use Disk Utility, the application Mac OS X provides for managing internal and external HDD/SSDs and its formats.
