So I've just installed two new HD's into bay 2 and bay 3 of my new Mac Pro and obviously want to start using them right away, but I'm totally new to Mac Pros and don't no how to format them!

I've opened up Disk Utility but the only HD's showing is the one in Bay 1. Have I not inserted the new drives correctly? or am i just missing something really simple?!!

Any response will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

If the drives aren't appearing in Disk Utility, you haven't installed them correctly. Did you make sure that they were seated correctly in the case (i.e. oriented properly in the cages and pushed all the way back so they were actually connected)?

Did you connect the power to the HDs? If they don't appear in disk utility, they aren't connected correctly. Once they appear, you can just format them.
