how do I get a cover sheet for my iBooks Docs

I use iBook a lot for stored .pdf docs. I do notice when I open iBooks there is a cover that appears, but rapidly disappears. Is there a way to maintain that cover. It gets tough to find which Doc I need. I do know there is a search function kinda hidden above the Docs there, but I'd love to see the covers.
