How do I get my iPod songs onto my MacBook Pro?

I have songs on my iPod that I want to bring onto my Macbook Pro. Most programs are not compatible with the 3.0 OS. Do you know of any programs that work for Mac and are compatible with OS 3.0?

How did they originally get on your iPod? Another computer somewhere? It'll probably be easiest to directly hook those 2 computers up and use migration assistant.
