how do I get my music

had an iPhone 5 that had all my iTunes music.
it broke, Apple gave me a new one, but my personal uploaded music via cd didn't port over.
That music came from my old MBP to iPhone 5. I now have a new MBP (May 13) which doesn't seem to have it either. What would happen if I hooked my new iPhone w ios7 to my old mbp. could I get it that way.

Put your music on the new computer. Pretty simple solution. You can redownload any purchased music from iTunes on your new computer

But why didn't you have it sync'd to iTunes and have backups of your data?
