Who buys anything without reading reviews or, in the Zune's case, any article online about it.

This has been whinged and whined about all over the net in reviews, on Engadget/Gizmodo.

It's been one of the Zunes biggest criticisms since day 1.

The only way to get Zune to work is to use Windows in some form or another as Consultent above said.

Decide what you want to do:
  • Run Windows Crippled Via VMWare Fusion or Parallells
  • Restart your computer every time you want to use your Zune via Boot Cmp and Windows
  • Return Zune and buy a different player.

This time read about the player first, if you do replace it.

Never tried using the Zune software on it but how about using Crossover Mac its probably your best choice if you dont have a spare Windows CD, Btw if you need a Windows OS for a couple of months try Windows 7.

Okay, this is hilarious. Why on earth would you buy a Zune? Especially for use with a MAC? Um, hello?!?

zune for mac

seriously, you guys suck. i just got a mac, and i have a zune, which i love for numerous reasons. mostly because i can freely move my music around with it instead of being tethered to a single computer's playlist, which ipods do, which is retarded. so please, don't throw all of this smug "why would you buy a zune when you can get an ipod?" bullcrap around, because it really gives you macphiles a bad name. so please, if anybody can answer without giving a snoody attitude-ridden response, it would be much appreciated.

so, let me rephrase what i believe this forum is supposed to be about: is there anyway to get a zune to work for a mac without having to buy more software? i don't want to have to buy a working copy of windows to do it, i just want to have access to my 50+ gigs of music on my zune that i currently cannot move onto my mac. any thoughts?

I don't think most people here were saying "Buy an iPod it's the ONLY option".

What most people said is the Zune won't work on Mac's. That's 100% Microsoft not wanting to add/develop a Mac compatible desktop software. I really think the only way would be, like others have said, to put Windows on your Mac via Parallels or some virtualization client of your choosing, or Boot Camp.
Don't go buy an iPod if you don't want one. No one is forcing you.

That sucks OP :( I'm not sure why everyone is jumping all over you because I'm 100% positive they don't read every box or review of a product they buy.

I'm pretty sure I look at reviews before I buy anything over $50. Usually I try to read reviews on everything.
Thanks for grouping me with everyone. :)

Burn CD's on the Mac or put them on a USB drive or other external, go to Best Buy and get the cheapest PC or find one for sale cheap. You can get a working PC for like 50 bucks around here. Use that as your Zune's home.

There is no conduit I am aware of that will allow direct transfer.

hmmm

i just recently switched from an iphone4 to a windows phone (i know i know) but i work for a "mobility" company and it wasnt by choice. I will be activating a new line with my ip4. ok besides that, i was very UNIMPRESSED with windows that you can not download zune on your mac. They need to change this ASAP. or alot of Apple iphone users are NOT going to even think about switching (which is what there pulling for since were now not exclusive with the iphone) until this is resolved, and copy and paste of course!!!!

If you are using your windows phone on your mac, the new windows phone 7 connector allows you to transfer music, videos and pictures to your phone. You can find it in the app store.

i downloaded this because i am also having the same zune issue i just got my mac last week. when i plug the zune in the program i "recognizes" it but doesnt go any further past the "please plug your phone in page". so does anyone know if it only works with the zune hd? or maybe why it does that?

Contact Microsoft for support. There's a link in the Mac app store.

Help pls!

I'm aware this is an old thread but...

I have all apple products (mac pro, ipod, iphone) so please don't tell me to avoid windows like the plague - I would love to!

However!

My partner has just moved in, and has a windows phone. I have downloaded the app and managed to get all photos off the phone onto the mac, however I am struggling with the music.

Is there anyway that you can sync music from a phone onto my mac, not the other way round which is easily doable! The phone has to go in for repair, hence trying to do this! I have done a back up, which I'm assuming will solve the problem of restoring the phone anyway, but wondered if there was any other way to achieve this?

Am aware the answer is probably no, but still, I live in hope!!! (And yes, I will be insisting he gets an iphone next time ;) )

Thanks in advance!
