How do I get new tones???

Have a mac? Put anything in Garageband and it has a send to ringtone function.

There is a thread here somewhere chock full of ringtones that you simply download and import straight into iTunes. haven't seen it surface for a while though. Would take a search.
Any sound you wish can be easily turned into a ringtone for your iPhone or iPad...I use ringtone maker something or other, but you can do it in just about any audio app. Check out the app store.
I have some M4R files and moved them to iTunes. Turned it on, did the sync...do not see the tone on my phone. Where on Earth do you select the newly added tone?

It needs to be shorter than 30 sec, also make sure that the ringtones button is checked for the sync.
Seems like you got your answer but I just want to weigh in with a way that I like when I have time to goof around. I do like music ringtones so long as they don't contain lyrics. (You just never know where you going to be when that "Candy Shop" ringtone hits.
