How do I get Preview to stop always showing my last opened Preview

How do I get Preview to stop always showing my last opened Preview.
Each time I open something w Preview, I get the last opened document open again and on top. How can I stop this and open only what I am trying to open.

Yeah, that's one very annoying aspect of Lion. This may help:

But if go to File -> Close, then it won't reopen it either.

Hold Command while closing will cause the document not to be opened next time you open preview, or you can use command+option+w to close the document and keep it from opening again upon relaunch.
