How do I remove that e-mail address inside the red circle? I contacted Apple Support and they don't know as well. I don't even have that address on my contact list, I've already deleted all my e-mail accounts and added them again to Mail, log off from my iCloud account and log on again, etc. It just won't disappear from there even though I've already sent e-mails to other addresses. That one was the only that stayed there and just won't go. Here's a screenshot. Sorry it's in Portuguese but I guess you know what I mean... I can translate if need be.

does that address show up in a spotlight search? i have a number of addresses i've deleted everywhere on my mac, that persist in showing up in spotlight (and i spent time with apple trying to figure out where they're originating from).

check spotlight, see if it shows up there as well...

It doesn't show up in Spotlight either. Actually the only thing that shows up when I check Spotlight is the selected file above in the screenshot which I've already deleted and created anew and yet that e-mail address persists. Puzzling...

do you use the standard email app? If so does this show up under window/previous recipients? I would think it wouldn't have anything to do with this but worth a look and if it shows up remove it and see

Yes I do. I have all my e-mail accounts there. It doesn't show up under window/previous recipients either.

I don't know if deleting ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.sharekit.recents.plist would do the trick but you could back up that file to your desktop and then give it a shot.

I'm not finding that file in the Preferences folder.

Got a phone call from Apple today. Had it sorted out through a Terminal command they gave me. They said it's some "bug" they're working on so it won't happen in the next version of High Sierra.

funny, apple did NOT sort it out for me; some deleted contacts show up in a spotlight search, even tho they're not in contacts, (or technically... anywhere). did some insane stuff with apple, but the problem (which, to be fair, isn't a big deal) is still there. odd one tho.

I've come across this bug, too. After you've removed an account from Internet Accounts in System Preferences, that account's contacts will disappear from Contacts.app but not from the Spotlight Index (because the files are still present in the file system).

This is what worked for me:
  1. Uncheck Contacts from any Internet Account so that Contacts.app becomes empty
  2. Open Finder, press Cmd+Shift+G and enter the path: ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book
  3. Delete everything in there (or move it to a USB key, so long as you don't keep it on your Mac, otherwise Spotlight will keep these files indexed)
  4. Go to Internet Accounts in System Preferences and turn on Contact sync for any service you want Contacts.app to sync with (this will populate the Address Book folder again)
  5. Now only contacts present in Contacts.app should appear in Spotlight search results

will try that when i get home (i need a way NOT to find my ex's info, so i can't drunk-text her!)...

EDIT: pretty sure apple had me do that, but... will try it today and report back...

EDIT2: and it WORKED, thanx! amazing that apple support couldn't get this fixed...
