I have a Mac Pro that's kernel panicking upon boot. I was going to try seeing if I could repair it before just reinstalling the OS, but I can't get the DVD drive to open. I have a Logitech Wave keyboard, but pressing the eject key combo isn't working (presumably since drivers for it aren't loaded).

How can I get it open to put in the install disc?

You can boot MBP into target disk mode and put the dvd in there, connect via firewire,
and on the MP hold Option (alt) on boot.

can't you just hold the OPT key down at boot and then press the eject button on the keyboard once the drives icon menu is visible?

I tried the bit with OPT to see the boot drives and that didn't work either... I just called Apple support and the guy had me unplug all of my devices except the keyboard/mouse and it seems to boot fine until I plug in one of my firewire drives... that drive seems to somehow be the culprit

Thanks for the replies

hold down the F12 key at boot...just before the C-Major startup sound. Keep holding until it ejects.
