How do I get the remote to stop controlling mac?!?!

I just got my Apple TV and love it, but when Im trying to use the remote my Macbook Pro starts doing different things and music n movie starts turning on and off. How do I turn off the remote to the mac?! Its annoying me lol

On your Mac:

To turn IR on or off:

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Security, and then click General.

Open the General pane of Security preferences
Select “Disable remote control infrared receiver” to turn off IR reception, or deselect it to turn on IR reception.

To configure your computer to respond to the commands of a specific remote control, click Pair, and then follow the instructions displayed.
