How do I hook up my Audioengine A5's to iMac for best sound? Also, DAC?

I just bought an iMac, and AudioEngine A5's.


1) These are some high quality speakers. Would a $150 external DAC make a big difference in sound quality compared to the iMac's onboard? Could you guys please recommend me a nice DAC for $150 or less?


2) How do I hook these up to my iMac > DAC for the best possible sound quality? I have no clue.....
