I need to buy an install disc for my IbookG4.
how can I determine whether my tiger 10.4 is a 10.4.2 or 10.4.6 or 10.4.11 etc? I don't have the owners manual.

Tiger OSX will start at 10.4 then with software updates you move up.

You can identify your mac via:

everymac.com

which tells you the minimum OS it supports.

how do I identify osx tiger 10.4

Ok so i went to the website and it tells me Pre-Installed MacOS: X 10.4.2 (8D37) and Maximum MacOS: X 10.5.8, so does the maximum one mean that my ibook can only go to 10.5.8 software??? i want to buy the install discs off ebay, so i just need to know what software discs i need to because my ibook doesnt have any software installed on it.

Thanks,
Ian

The iBook can run up to Leopard 10.5.8. So you should be able to buy Leopard and install it. (NOT Snow Leopard.) The x.x.8 is a software update that you can download after you have installed 10.5

If you mean you need original discs, you would have to check the serial and date the computer i guess. Not really sure.
