How do I import a previously made dvd to burn?

A complete novice here.
I created a home movie on imovie then burned it to idvd. I forgot to transfer the movie to my external hard drive and deleted the movie on my computer to save space. I have only one copy of the movie on one disk and need to make more, or burn more. The computer will not allow me to import the finished dvd into imovie or into idvd to burn more copies. I have tried disk utility with no success. Any thoughts on how to proceed?

If you have Toast, making copies is easy. If not, you can make a disc image of the DVD and use that to make copies.
