When I setup my GMAIL on my new Macbook Air, there was no option to import or sync my contacts in google. Now when I open the Mail program on my mac, and go to enter a name to send an email to, I have no contacts. With my iphone and ipad, I had the option to import/sync my contacts, can I not do this? I need my ever changing address book on the mac

There is a way to export contacts from google contacts. You can then import them to address book on your Mac. You can also consider letting your Mac sync with gmail. I prefer iCloud myself but sync with gmail is also an option. It annoys me that my Mac/iPhone address books don't propogate over to gmail when I'm using the gmail web interface to send mail but I had a bad experience using a third party google sync thing a few years back and decided not to try again.
