Do I need to do it via custom restore file?

Or can I just patch it?

I have the GM.

-iPhone 4 :)

error 1015?

yes i already fogured it out..it was already basically on 3.1.3 but stayed in recovery mode so i just used recboot to kick it out of recovery..i will wait for 4.0 official then i might upgrade the firmware if not then ill wait for my iphone 4 to arrive nd be picked up from bestbuy but im not sure ill like the 4.0 firmware on my 3gs i rather have it jailbroken lol just my 2 cents.

I think 'tutorial' sounds too much like learning for some people. A sad world we live in:(

I did read the tutorial... I'd read a few other reports about downgrading to vanilla 3.1.2 before using pwnage as it was more reliable....

But thanks for your helpful input...

It doesn't really seem like it's worth it to jailbreak to the 4.0 GM, since the actual release of 4.0 is less than a week away and I will likely jailbreak to it anyway.

yeah its not worth only things good are its faster to sync and camera takes better pics meaning faster pics and it has built in zoom but multi tasking sux! only work on native apps.

Ok strange one, followed the guide but for some reason pwnage now doesn't recognise my S when its plugged in, it can see my 3G fine and iTunes can see both... Any ideas?

Cheers

Phil

I meant to say, why bother jailbreaking to the beta when the official will be out on Monday and likely have bug fixes, etc.?

In order to have jailbroken 4.0 running on a 3GS, you have to upgrade (and JB at same time) using this method

Use this method

This can only be done on a Mac.

Looks pretty straightforward, but I think I'm going to wait for official 4.0 and "official" dev team jb. That will also give the developers of cydia apps another week to work on compatibility with 4.0.

I love new releases from Apple...GAME ON!
