Okay I seem to struggle with the most basic stuff 😂I’ve looked online and apparently there should be a Genmoji icon on the emoji keyboard?? Am I being blind?

That looks like WhatsApp, in which case it might need Meta to add the Genmoji stuff

It's weird though my other half can do Genmoji direct from WhatsApp on his 17 so I don't understand what I need to toggle on to let me do it too!
In WhatsApp in your message, tap the emoji icon bottom left, then you should see Genmoji on the upper right of the emoji icons.
But that doesn’t seem to be working for you. Perhaps turn off Apple Intelligence, give it a couple of minutes, restart your phone, let it warm up, reenable Apple Intelligence, let it do its thing and try again?

Found the fix, it needs stickers enabled in the keyboard settings
Settings > general > keyboard > stickers (at the bottom of the page)
Then the Genmoji button will display as per screenshot by @StumpyBloke

Good lord that is indeed it, thank you very much! So I will have to choose between Genmoji or being free of the horrible stickers mixed in with my recently used emojis, I will have to think carefully about this one 😆
