Hi Guys.

Just got my new MB and I love it. However, I was wondering, how do you keep airport running when your in sleep mode? I want my computer to sleep so it's safe to carry around but at the same time I want to be able to do large downloading.

If there is any third party software or if it is just in settings, let me know how to do it...

-Thanks,

you cant, the computer powers off (well almost) the harddrive shuts down thats what makes it safe to move, so you cant keep doing stuff..sorry

When the computer sleeps it can't do anything but sleep so no.

The thing is is that I know there is a program that will do it... I read it on a post somewhere. I searched long and hard and can't find it. Hopefully someone will be able to post what it is.

you;re talking about insominax but that keeps the system turned on when the lid is closed it DOSENT let it sleep..you cant have SLEEP and DOWNLOAD at the same time

You cannot have a computer in sleep mode and be on at the same time. It is a contradiction. It's like asking to drive a car while it's turned off. When your machine is in sleep mode it is not on, it is not active. There is nothing to change that. What you're asking for is impossible.

good analogy, but..
its no use, he thinks it exists he isnt going to listen until he finds a program that will do what he wants:rolleyes:

Your hard drive needs to be on in order for you to download.

I would never have your MacBook turned on while you are carrying it around in your backpack. It can overheat.

I forgot I had Insomnia running and closed my Mac and put it in my rucksack. An hour ride home, I took it out and the thing was roasting hot. I was very lucky no damage was done.

There isn't any safe way to do what you want.
