I don't keep my iPhone constantly synced with my Apple Watch as I put my watch in airplane mode most of the time (I don't know notification function on watch). Once a week, I will sync my watch to my iPhone to upload my fitness data to the phone.

I am having trouble knowing when the watch finishes data syncing to the phone. Right now, I have to manually check every single stat on the health and activity apps to make sure I am seeing the latest data. One time, I missed checking this and never realized that a bunch of workout data never got synced.

Is there a way to tell that the Apple Watch has finished syncing data with the iPhone like an indicator badge or notification message? I recall on the Fitbit there is quick alert saying so whenever the device finished syncing with the app on the phone.

You’re interfering with the way it’s intended to work, for no reason. Just leave the Watch wireless radios on and it’ll do its thing as designed. If you want to mange notifications, do that through the Watch app on iPhone.

Why not just put the Watch on Do Not Disturb and keep the wireless on the Watch? @chabig is right, you don't need to manage this kind of thing, just change a few settings and it'll work as intended.

Since the OP is into extremes they could un-pair and then re-pair every week.:D This would insure a sync and backup.

I don’t think there is any badge or notification.

Why do you like to use the Watch in airplane mode? Do you see better battery life?

Leaving it overnight should complete data sync, but I think you’d be better doing it at least every 2-3 days, not weekly.

Do you use workouts? Or sleep tracking? The real question is ‘how much data can the Apple Watch store before it overwrites it locallly?’ I don’t know of any official statement from Apple about that.
