Well I got a MacBook from a friend who got one at work. Its passworded and I don't know the password. It loads up as Mac OS X but don;t know which version to get so I can reformat it. I need to do a clean reformat.

Ask your friend for the disks that came with the Macbook, if its not Leopard, think about buying that...

you can buy any version but best sticking with the late ones like Tiger or Leopard

Simple -- if you have an intel Mac, the ONLY retail system you can buy that will work is Leopard.

Beep. Wrong answer. Tiger and any other version other than Leopard do not have code that will boot Intel Macs. The only Tigers that will work are the gray disks that were bundled physically with the intel Macs.

leopard? but I hear theres different versions for diff processors
