How do i make 2 parts of a script execute at once in applescript?

Basically, i have a script that starts my music and then talks to me. But i want the volume to gradually fade up as it's speaking, requiring it to execute 2 parts of the script at the same time.

How can i do that? Can i highlight an area of a script to not need to be waited on for a result?
