My old TiBook running Tiger did this without a hitch, but now that I'm on Snow Leopard it refuses to automatically connect to any computer-to-computer network. My new laptop is an aluminum MacBook though I doubt that makes any difference as I know it's an OSX issue. I've listed it as a preferred network in the AirPort preferences pane, but it doesn't seem to help. There might be a terminal command to make it do this but I don't know it. Any suggestions?

What is the protocol of the "ad hoc" network?
