I need to move my apple mail profile to a new macbook. I tried just copying the files into library but mail did not recognize them.

I then tried importing my mail through Apple Mail's import but it still didnt recognize my old mail box.

can some one give me a hand please?

Thank you very much,

To move from one Mac to another, you should use the Migration Assistant (in Applications/Utilities). It takes care of stuff like this without any fuss or bother.

Just moving the files should work fine, but you need to remember to also get com.apple.mail.plist from the Preferences folder in addition to the Mail folder with all the data. Do that, and it should import or just use the data properly. I've done this several times.

That said, the Migration Assistant works very well--try it.

i tried this and it wanted to create a copy of my user and then after 2 hours none of my data moved over, all my applications but no data.

thanks for the suggestions and ill give them a try.
