We have Verizon and it allows us to "download details to a spreadsheet" but the file downloads as a .action file. I'm running 10.4.11. Is there a program I can download to open this file? I have excel 2004 for mac but it is grayed out and won't let me try to open it.

I'm trying to figure out how many minutes we will need when we switch to att since right now we get the 10 my friends and family numbers.

Any ideas?

It's probably a custom file type on the webserver (like .php, .asp, .html), something is going wrong in the download and you're getting a useless file rather than your excel sheet.

You could try renaming it from .action to .xls, or maybe try downloading with a different browser.

edit: ^ Or Automator! though don't know why Verizon would have you downloading those

Thank you so much! Changing it to .xls worked perfectly. I didn't think to try that.

Automater is grayed out as a selection too...

You should be able to have it list all applications (as opposed to just recommended ones). It's no guarantee it'll work as it may not be a action file Automator uses. File extensions can be reused by other applications.
