I recently purchased a SLR and I am experimenting with RAW and Jpegs. How do you directly open a RAW image in Photoshop? Thanks for the response in advance.

My camera I use is a T3.

You use either the OPEN (CMD+O) dialog in PS or you drag and drop the RAW file (.cr2 I suppose) onto the PS icon in the Dock.
Just like with any other file.
If you have PS CS5, Camera RAW is already included.
If you have an earlier version of PS, you can download Camera RAW from Adobe.

This is what I found via some search engine:
Use Camera RAW in Photoshop

Or what version of PS are you using and what problem do you have?

Its CS5. But I think I am having a problem due to my RAW Update being very ancient. Thanks for your help!

Your camera is supported by CS5, so you should be able to just double click the .cr file to open it in the Camera RAW interface in PhotoShop. Check out the following links and see if they help.

CS5 Camera RAW Video

Camera RAW 6.4 Download

Check your PhotoShop Preferences and see if the jpg box is checked or not. I think if it is checked, then PS will look to the jpg before the RAW file.

Dale

This is CS3.
