I'm planning on selling my iPad 2 in anticipation for the iPad 3 (I hope they do preorders!) and I'm selling mine on eBay to ship to someone in the US. Does anyone know the correct way of packing it? Would taking a large USPS flat rate box and then packing the iPad 2 box in that flat rate box work? Or is there some other recommended way of doing it?

BTW, this is my first post on the MacRumors forums. I recently made the switch to a Mac and I'm very excited. I look forward to making friends with all of you!

Pack like anything else -- use enough padding to protect it in shipment. Do not use just pellets or it will possibly to one side and end up damaged if impacted on that side of the package.

First of all if you do not have the original packaging , be sure to wrap bubble wrap around the iPad 2 securely. Second get a proper sized box that will give you sufficient space to pour in packaging peanuts. That should be more than enough.

Welcome to Macrumors.

Apologies but I have to ask - is this a serious question?

It's a package. Wrap it up, don't let it bounce around in the box you're thinking of shipping it in, use some common sense.

There is no 'correct way' of packing it.

Put on more bubble wrap than you think you need. Possibly some screwed up paper around it too.

Of course if you have the original box, just put it in there and put that inside a standard shipping box.

Simple :)

What ever box you use make sure it is packed HARD with peanuts. More packages are damaged due to the box not being able to stand up to the weight of their fellow boxes on top of them. The box needs to be crammed hard with peanuts.

I ship items all the time and hate the new air bags. They do not stand up to real weight during shipping and people like B&H know it. They use these air bags because they take up no room in shipping and are cheaper!

Ideally, it should go back into the product box and then add shipping popcorn or bubble wrap for extra protection. I sold my ipad2 and will buy the next version because of the rumored retina display.
