How do I paste A URL in Word 2008?

I'm trying to paste a URL in Word 2008 on the Citations List by hitting the "plus" sign at the bottom. Seems like a very simple task but I'm having no luck. Can anyone help me with this issue? Thanks for your time...

Select the URL from your browser window, hit cmd+c, then, when you go to add a citation, just press cmd+v to paste the url.

It's just a simple copy and paste, what's making this so hard?
