emw macrumors G4 Aug 2, 2004 11,172 0 May 20, 2005 #2 You may have installed the DivX codec, or other specific codecs, for QuickTime in Panther and lost them during the update/clean install process. If you did an archive/install, then you should be able to find them in your Previous System > Library > QuickTime folder. Otherwise, you may have to download and install clean. DivX 5.2.1 is here.

shadowmoses macrumors 68000 Mar 6, 2005 1,821 0 Jul 9, 2005 #5 I think VLC is the best way to play AVI's on macs give that a try....I would also reccomend downlaoding Mplayer and Xine Player they are 2 good alternatives and are good to have on your system anyway incase VLC cannot play a certain file format...
