Hi guys, I’m planning on upgrading to iPhone 4. I’d like to try and sell my old iPhone 3G on eBay or something. What do I need to do to prepare it?

How do I wipe the iPhone of my info? Restore factory settings?

Do I need to remove the SIM card?

Should I jailbreak it and then try and sell it? Is that necessary? Or do you think it’s even worth anything, would anyone buy it?

Thanks in advance for your help.

When you plug in your iPhone, just Restore it. Yes, please remove the sim card, it's yours. Jailbreak will help, but really depends.

really?...this question is being asked AGAIN? I have personally answered this question in seperate threads many times. Please search, its come up so many times.

to answer the OP. Just do a restore in itunes and make sure you have clicked off all the syncing. Take out the sim card and that's all there is to it.

So we should wipe, then jailbreak & unlock, or just jailbreak to get the best sale? Thanks!

My 3G is not jailbroken.

I want to wipe all of my personal data off the phone, but keep the software from updating to 4.0 because it doesn't seem to work very well with the 3G.

Is there a way I can do this?

I have an older version of iTunes on a back room desktop, fwiw.

there is a factory restore option in the phone under settings. Won't update since you don't plug it into itunes.
