I know there are quite a few threads on this subject but I just want to clarify the issue. I have a SENNHEISER PC160SK and it works no problem through the headphone/mic line inputs behind my imac. When I go to my System Preferences> Sound> Input, I select Line In/Audio line-in port and it doesn't detect.

Do I need additional software or maybe a usb headphone/mic based set instead of one with 3.5mm connectors? I thought it was as simple as plug and play? I tried using QT pro, Garage Band and I also use iShowU for my screen casts but I cannot get any audio. Audio only works through the built in mic. Am I missing a specific setting? I also installed the Soundflower driver through iShowU but that didn't help. It can't be this complicated. Thank you all in advance.
