I installed and removed Pixelmator from my 10.8.2 rMBP.

But if I right click on a .jpg it asks if I want to open it with Pixelmator which isn't even on my system!

I read to remove com.apple.LaunchServices.plist (I dragged it to my desktop). Rebooted. And Pixelmator is still there!

Help!

[RESOLVED]

I still had Pixelmator in my trash and my OS still saw the program as active. I deleted the trash and now my "Open With" associations are correct!

Here we go folks...

open terminal and paste this command:

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user

Do it as often as you wish, as your mac sneaking on content of other drives and pollutes "open with" with dated references on the regular basis ...

Deleting plist file is rude and knocks off even desired app associations.
