My real objective is to make my phone "butt proof" so that when it is in my back pocket, random things don't happen randomly such as the music player suddenly stopping. It would be nice if some key sequence would put the phone into "butt proof" mode where only a definite swipe up would start the unlock process.

But, assuming that is not possible, the next best thing would be to remove the player controls from the lock screen. I did an internet search for this but I guess they are talking about a different problem that I have. I want to be playing music or listening to Audible, hit the side button to go to lock mode, put the phone in my pocket, and be assured that it isn't going to do any random things (with the music or book still playing). Is that possible?

Try turning off the 'tap to wake' option.
This is the way! I had to make this change a while back because my phone was randomly calling people. It wasn’t the emergency number, but just people in my contacts.

I never understood why touchscreen phones didn’t have a switch on the side to turn off the touchscreen. You’re putting this thing in your pocket and expecting it not to do things.

One reason I haven’t upgraded from my iPhone 14 is I still have a ring silent switch. I think that’s the only change Apple has done that made me quite displeased. That’s about all I can say without having issues with forum rules 😂

On my Apple Watch, I sometimes enable the Water Lock mode simply because it disables the touch screen and stops it from doing random crap whenever I accidentally brush up against it. I can't count how many times I've gone to check the time and found something insane on the screen. iPhone should have something like this as well.

If I remember right to disable water lock, you have to turn the crown. They removed the only switch on the iPhone so it would have to be one of the buttons. Buttons get unintentionally pressed all the time so they would have to make it some weird combination of presses to unlock it. Maybe something like three quick presses, a pause and then two quick presses. I believe the action button is programmable with shortcuts, so couldn’t it be programmed to change the settings?

I can’t test any of this because I’m still on my 14. Waiting for the 17 Air. Please don’t disappoint me Apple, lol

Disabling water lock now requires you to hold the Digital Crown in for about five seconds. The action button is programmable, or you can disable it altogether. It also requires it to be held in for a bit for it to register. Clicking it doesn't do anything.

What kind of pants you all wearing, that it activates your phones and do random stuff? My iPhone's screen doesn't even react to regular fabric whatsoever.
