How do I remove the flag icon from the screen?

I unmarked all of them from keyboard option in the system preferace but I stilll see the flag icon beside the time machine. How do I remove from the screen?

Click on the flag
Open Keyboard Prefs
Input Sources tab - Uncheck Show Input Menu in Menu Bar

On the Input Sources tab, check that you only have the one Keyboard Layout available. I have only the one and I checked "Show Input menu in menu bar" and I get the menu bar icon and dropdown menu as you can see below. This is for macOS 10.9.5 Mavericks so YMMV.

I unchecked Show Input Menu in Menu Bar. I don't see the icon on the screen anymore.
