How do I replace old music library with new?

I want to replace my old music library with a new updated one that has over 100 new songs. How do I do that? My experience with Itunes is that it will import the library no problem; but I always wind up with a whole pile of duplicates. I just want the new library and that is all.

I managed to move my movie library over via holding down the shift key and re-starting Itunes. Do I do the same. Could try that; but I'm afraid of losing my movie library!

Any suggestions?
