my stacks have started displaying backwards – in other words, rather than showing me the most recently added item first, it puts it last; when the stack expands, the “open in finder” option is at the top of the screen, with the most recently added item at the bottom. Instead of the other way around, which is the default. How do I change it back?

thanks!
Mark

Right-click on the stack for view options.

*Bump*

I'm going to bump this thread. I accidentally deleted my Downloads stack, so I created a new one by dragging the Download folder into the dock. I right-clicked to set the view to date added, but like the OP it displays the oldest files first (on top in grid view and on the bottom in fan view) instead of the most recently added. Is there any way to reverse the order of a stack?

I have tried selecting the view setting twice (like when you have a finder window and click the column view to reverse the order) and I've changed the view from fan to grid to no avail. I'd rather not trash my dock .plist to get my Downloads stack back, so if anyone knows I would love to hear how to fix this.

It appears that when you first add the Download folder back to the Dock, the order is switched, then new downloads appear in the proper order. That's a weird bug.

What OS?

I'm using 10.5.8
I know I've replaced my Downloads stack once after it went missing. (that's still a mystery) It does not display the reverse order described by the OP, or the behavior you describe.
