Hello,

I am finding a lot of useful information on how to have a dual monitor setup with two external monitors, but I was wondering if it is possible to have this setup, using the MacBook Pro as one of them. Essentially, I only have one external monitor, but want to use it as a dual setup, using my MacBook Pro as monitor #2.

Is this possible?

Yes, it is possible. Just connect the display with the appropriate adapter and use it. Under normal circumstances it should work right away, in some instances you might have to deselect MIRROR DISPLAYS as shown below.

System Preferences > Displays >> Arrangement >>> Mirror Displays (but know, that the display with the lowest resolution determines the maximum resolution used on both, thus one display will have a lower than native resolution, except when both displays have the same native resolution)

Thank you!

Thank you! I'm very glad this will work, I have my HDMI to DVI connector arriving tomorrow, I'll get it setup.
