How do I see edited iPhone photos on my Mac

Hi, I've been using Image Capture since my first iPhone, to import my photos to my Mac. I'd like to know how I can see the edited version of a photo on the Mac. With my pre iOS 8 photos I have the png and xmp files and with my newer photos I have the png or jpg and corresponding aae files.
