How do I set permissions of maps, stocks etc to 755?

Hello, I am getting a touch for Christmas and have recently came across jailbreaking. I have just downloaded all of the maps, stocks and weather etc but I have read that for them to sucessfully work on the iPod Touch, you need to change the permissions to 755. How would I do that on a PC?

use winscp and right clik on all the folders in the app folder and click properties
there u can change the OCTAL to 0755 or 755 (same thing)
