I am having problems with running backups without encrypting them. I am unable to find the option to encrypt or unencrypted in the Time Machine menu. Does anyone else have this problem?

When you first setup Time Machine you are asked if you want the backup to be encrypted. You can't change this afterwards. You need to start again if you want different. AFAIK.

Thank you Sir, I attempted a backup and it failed. I will therefore take your advice and start over with time machine.

If you want backups "without encryption" of any kind...
... that will mount right up in the finder like any other drive...
... then try either CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper.

Both will create cloned backups in "plain ol' finder format" that will mount on the desktop and behave like any other drive.

Both are free to download and try.

Finder shows Time Machine backups in "plain ol' finder format" that mounts on the Desktop, provided it is not encrypted and not on a network volume. Previous backups on CCC are not as easy to see as Time Machine and need either Safety Net or Snapshots enabled.
