How do I share a folder between 2 macs with password?

I am able to set up a folder for sharing in OSX 10.6 but everyone can access it. I wont to set up a folder on my imac that I can access from my air but ? do not want others in the house to see the folder. How can I password protect it etc?

You have several options. If these are newer machines, the simplest might be a Bluetooth connection.

Open System Preferences, click the "Sharing" icon under "Internet & Wireless," turn Bluetooth Sharing on for both machines. No extra hardware, software needed. Transfer rates aren't terribly fast, but what you lose in speed you gain in simplicity.
