I occasionally switch off my MacBook with the volume all the way up, and then wake up my new baby the next time I switch it on.

Is there a button on the keyboard I can hold down to stop it making the noise when switching on? Alternative is to find and plug in a set of headphones every time.

Just downloaded it, they've added a version for Intel (Tiger onwards.)

Thanks for your help. I seem to remember there was a similar control panel back in 7.5.5 ! Progress, eh?

Very low tech solution....:eek:Plugin some earphones. My daughter did that to mine and I thought it my sound was screwed until I noticed the wires hanging out from the back of the iMac.

Doesn't work for my MBP. I just try to plan ahead and turn off the sound before I need to go to the library for instance. Or just sleep the computer.

I have an untested idea. Much like the intro image during start up, what if you change the sound file that's being used during start up? I know I did this for my PC. For my MB I changed the intro image by changing the file...wouldn't this work for the .wav also?

Fuzzy - the best thing you can possibly do for your baby is get him or her used to the Mac Chime! The sound your baby hears is the sound of excellence!!!! :D

cheers,
Mark

Yeah, me too. It's common knowledge you can't stop the dong once the power's on. :p

The dong is unstoppable.

That app might work on the startup chime though.

I like it when my dong comes on in class,
everyone usually turns and looks at me
then they're impressed when they look at where it came from
:D

"Whats happenin hot stuff??"
