Hello,

I've search far and wide for the answer to this but no idea to solve his simple issue. I'm hoping you clever lot can help!

I've signed up for Google Calendar and have put my appointments in the diary online on my laptop. I don't need to share calendars or contacts or anything. I just want to use it to back up my ipod touch's calendar. If I plug my ipod touch in to my laptop it all downloads fine (I've followed the online guides) and all the dates appears nicely in my ipod calendar. So far so good.

If however I try to add or amend an appointment on the ipod it changes/adds it alright on the actual ipod but when I plug into my netbook and sync up (inc syncing ipod and calendar via itunes) the info doesn't upload into Google calendar.

I want to be able to use my ipod touch as a diary when I'm out and about then upload the newly added latest appointments when I'm home so its backed up on Google Calendar - currently its a one way street only!

Any ideas?

Thanking you in advance

x

Thank you. I went to do that but thought that's what I'd already set up. It seems so because when I got to the 'add account' and tapped microsoft exchange, it popped up with 'account already exists'.

I did however have another go at making amends and appointments on my ipod touch and syncing and this time it seemed to work and upload accordingly in the google calendar on my laptop!

So don't know what was going on there but the good news is problem solved! I also have now found this fab forum through this little 'problem' so its all good :)

Thanks again for your post

I've been using Google Sync for my iCal which keeps my iPod touch, Macbook's iCal and Google Calendar online in sync at all times of the day.

uhh, with the new iPhone OS 3 you can sync your google account directly. Just go to (on iphone) mail/contacts/calendars, click 'add account', choose other, choose under Calendars 'add calDAV calendar' and then put in your google info.

first line is www.google.com
then user/pass and a description

go to your calendar on your iphone, click 'calendars' on the top left, and you'll see the description and (CalDAV) next to it.

I have my personal google calendar, my school google calendar, my family's google calendar all synced.

To get other calendars you make on your account to sync, you have to go to your account on google (preferably on your computer), go to calendar, choose the created calendar and click settings from the drop-down. Scroll down to the 'calendar address' and copy everything after "calendar ID:". Paste this in as the server on your iphone (thanks, copy and paste), it will change to say www.google.come after you paste it but that is normal, just put in your user and password and description and it will sync.

I don't use the exchange thing because exchange uses more battery life, plus I already have an exchange calendar for work (when i decide to turn it on).

This keeps my calendar in sync on my iPhone as well as on my laptop with iCal, so i get notified of events on both and can add/edit/delete events on either.

Interesting.

Can more than one calendar be both synced and used?

Like, if I have more than one on my iCal and/or Gcal can they be edited and added upon on the ipod touch?

Yes. If you have more than one gcal, just follow the last part of what I wrote and it'll give you the URL to put into your phone, and also to put into iCal to sync that calendar. It's fantastic.
