I just restored my phone on itunes to iOS and I can't tell if the phone is unlocked or not. I heard people saying that retoring my phone should show me but I didn't see anything..

You should of gotten the "Congratulations your iPhone is unlocked" message. But you can enter your IMEI # here and double check http://s-url.ro/

Only sure way is to get another carriers sim and stick it in.
Many times you wont get that congrats message even though your phone is unlocked and many of those imei check websites are innacurate.
Get a tmobile sim on ebay, they're 99 cents shipped.

i paid $0.99 for this last week, but it's FREE now :) http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-phone/T-Mobile-Prepaid-SIM-Activation-Kit

i cut the sim and lightly sanded (using a foam nail filer) the back side to make it thinner as well. i was able to confirm that the ip5 worked with this SIM. also, when I did a restore on itunes, i was able to get the congrats unlocked message as well. regardless, I was able to confirm unlocked via, 1) itunes message, 2) t-mobile sim, 3) entering my IMEI in the lookup tool.
